Description of CE Program/Activity
Course Description:The Expanded Core Curriculum (ECC) is a speci c curriculum focused on nine areas of instruction critical to the success of students who are blind and visually impaired. The ECC provides a framework to target skills that are not always integrated within the general education curriculum. This course targets ECC screening and assessment procedures and focuses on completing ECC screening and assessments collaboratively with other members of a student s team. The Teachers Learning and Collaborating model (TLC) will be used for coaching and support. Three face-to-face sessions will take place, as well as sessions utilizing Zoom distance technology. This class is being o ered for both license renewal and graduate credit.Course Learning Objectives:Outcome/objective #1: Participants will understand the Expanded Core Curriculum s place in Iowa s Specially Designed Framework.Outcome/objective #2: Participants will gain knowledge of best practices in ECC screening procedures. Outcome/objective #3: Participants will use an ECC screening to determine the best ECC assessment tool to use.Outcome/objective #4: Participants will complete three di erent ECC assessments. Outcome/objective #5: Participants will collaborate to complete the ECC screening and assessment.
