ACVREP RECERTIFICATION POINT CALCULATOR
CDBIS RECERTIFY EVERY FOUR YEARS

CDBIS Applicants for Recertification must accrue 80 points to recertify every 4 years, review categories below. Verification of completion is required for accomplishments listed below for all categories. CATEGORY 1: CONTINUING EDUCATION - 20 points mandatory minimum. All CE must be from a formal university course or from an ACVREP approved CE Provider.

Workshops, Seminars, Conferences, Webinars, Training ( in person/on-line)

1 hour = 1 point

University/College Courses:

1 semester = 15 points
1 quarter = 10 points

University/College Continuing Ed transcript or certificate of completion CEU:

1 CEU = 10 points

CATEGORY 2: PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE - up to maximum of 60 points

Professional (paid experience as:)
minimum 300 hours = 40 points

  • Administrator (facilitator, project lead)
  • Consultant

Volunteer as a direct intervenor service provider
3 hours = 2 points, up to max 40 points

CATEGORY 3: DIRECT PUBLICATIONS AND PRESENTATIONS

Blog post - i.e. intervenor agency website blog, Intervenor Organization of Ontario, Deafblind International (intervenor or Deafblind related content)?

Per Post = 2 points up to a maximum of 20

Webinar or Podcast:

1 hour = 2 points up to a maximum of 20

Peer Reviewer:

Journal Article = 1 point per article
Textbook = 5 points per chapter review

Organization/agency newsletter article (Peer reviewed or edited):

per submission = 2 points

Textbook (Published):

Author = 50 points
Chapter Author = 20 points
Editor = 25 points

Published Review of Journal or Book:

Published Review of Journal or Book = 10 points

Published Research Abstract:

Published Research Abstract = 2 points

Unpublished Completed Master's / Doctoral Thesis:

Unpublished Completed Master's / Doctoral Thesis = 50 points

Guest/Periodic Lecturing College / University Course:

Guest/Periodic Lecturing College / University Course = 2 points per hour

Presentation Professional Conference/CE Program

Presentation Professional Conference/CE Program= 2 points per hour

CATEGORY 4: PROFESSIONAL SERVICES - 20 POINTS MAXIMUM

Local/National/International Organization Officer/Committee Chr.:

Local/National/International Organization Officer/Committee Chr. = 10 points per year

Documentation Required: signed letter of organization letterhead stating the position and years of service verifying at least two meetings per year during years of service uploaded into recertification tracker

Local/National/International Organization Board/Committee Member:

Local/National/International Organization Board/Committee Member = 5 points per year

Documentation Required: signed letter of organization letterhead stating the position and years of service verifying at least two meetings per year during years of service uploaded into recertification tracker

ACVREP Subject Matter Expert Committee:

ACVREP Subject Matter Expert Committee = 2 points per hour

Documentation Required: email from ACVREP President verifying hours of service in most recent 2 years including subcommittee hours uploaded into recertification tracker

Service on a Committee for Employer:

Service on a Committee for Employer = 2 points per year

Documentation Required: signed letter from Employer on letterhead evidencing years of service verifying at least 5 committee meetings per year during years of service uploaded into recertification tracker

Onsite/Offsite Supervisor for Practicum or Internship of students or entry level professionals:

Onsite/Offsite Supervisor for Practicum or Internship of students or entry level professionals = 0.25 points per hour

Documentation Required: copy of the CCE form provided to student or letter from university stating the hours supervised or if an entry level professional, a letter from the employer stating the number of hours supervised
