ACVREP Board of Directors Further Strengthens Timeline Requirements

The ACVREP Board of Directors at their May 20, 2019 Board meeting voted to further strengthen the requirements for applicants to pass the exam within the current guidelines of the earlier of 4 takes of the exam or 24 months.

Currently, an applicant must pass the certification exam at the earlier of 4 takes of the exam or within 24 months from their initial exam registration date or the applicant’s Eligibility is cancelled and the applicant must reapply for Eligibility if the applicant wishes to continue to pursue certification.  Currently, there is no delay from the date an applicant's Eligibility is cancelled due to failure to pass the exam and the date when the applicant can reapply for Eligibility.

Effective September 3, 2019, In order to encourage applicants who cannot pass the exam within the initial requirements to take additional time to prepare and study, the Board has imposed a six (6) month delay from the date of cancellation until an applicant can reapply for Eligibility.

Additionally, the Board of Directors is imposing the above exam guidelines on applicants whose certification has lapsed and are applying to recertify by exam.
