1. Provide functional assessment, training, education and referral to alternate low vision support service or other rehabilitation services for outpatient and in-residence clients.

2. Interviewing clients to determine their needs, desired outcomes, and limitations. Maintain an atmosphere that will be conducive to learning and plan reinforcement activities that will aid in advancement of learning.

3. Keep accurate records of the instructional process as it relates to individual learning.

4. Write accurate reports of initial findings, procedures and results. Care for, order, and inventory equipment and supplies necessary for the implementation of assigned duties.

5. Document and clearly communicate to appropriate staff information that has an effect on a client's continued rehabilitation goals.

6. Responsible to accurately diagnose the functional visual abilities and inabilities of clients and arrange for the purchase and dissemination of any low vision aids recommended for the low vision client.

7. Maintain up-to-date professional standards by attending meetings and conferences, consulting with other professionals, reviewing current literature, and disseminating information to other staff of the most current rehabilitation techniques and equipment used in assigned areas of instruction.

8. Structure situations that will reveal the abilities and limitations of each client and discuss findings with the client, participate in conferences with client's families and observe clients in out of class situations when possible to determine the level to which they transfer learned skills.

9. Attend general meetings to communicate and exchange information with other staff pertaining to the progress of each client and the coordination of services being provided.

10. Participate in the planning of new agency programs and goals as appropriate, serve of committees to promote the mission of BVRS and participate in the supervision and training of interns and volunteers.
