Job Title: Teacher of the Visually Impaired

Job Summary: We are seeking a dedicated and qualified Teacher of the Visually Impaired to join our team in the Alachua County, FL and surrounding area. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing specialized educational instruction to students with visual impairments, including those who are blind or have low vision. The Teacher of the Visually Impaired will collaborate with families, educators, and related service providers to develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) that address the unique needs of each student.

Key Responsibilities:

• Conduct assessments of students' functional vision and learning needs
• Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) that are aligned with state and federal regulations
• Adapt instructional materials and methods to meet the needs of students with visual impairments
• Provide direct and indirect instruction in areas such as Braille literacy, orientation and mobility, independent living skills, and technology access
• Collaborate with families, educators, and related service providers to ensure that students receive comprehensive support
• Maintain accurate records of student progress and communicate regularly with families and school staff
• Participate in professional development activities to stay current on best practices in the field

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in education, special education, or a related field
• Certification as a Teacher of the Visually Impaired from an accredited program
• Experience working with students who are blind or have low vision
• Knowledge of assistive technology and adaptive equipment for students with visual impairments
• Strong communication and collaboration skills
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Commitment to providing high-quality educational services to students with disabilities

Job Type: Full-time

Salary: $48,000.00 - $60,000.00 per year

License/Certification:
