Minimum Qualifications

Education &/or Experience:

  • Teaching the complete Unified English Braille code and Braille technology such as braille displays, notetakers, and braille translation software.
  • Demonstrated teaching ability.
  • Excellent teamwork skills; and interpersonal skills.


Ability to:

  • Evaluate the Braille and Braille note taking device needs of students who are blind, vision impaired, or deafblind.  
  • To read and write contracted UEB including producing and properly formatting error free braille documents.
  • To formulate and implement an instructional plan to meet each student’s needs and provide appropriate instruction.
  • To prepare written reports on student’s progress.
  • To communicate effectively orally and in writing.
  •  

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience:

  • Teaching individuals Braille and Braille note taking devices.
  • Teaching individuals who are blind, vision impaired or deafblind.
  • In performing evaluations and providing training in Braille and Braille note taking devices to individuals who are blind or vision impaired.
  • Working with individuals with secondary disabilities in addition to blindness.

Possess:
 

  • NCUEB certification.

 

Ability to:

 

  • Read, write, and teach the Nemeth braille math code; and/or the UEB braille math code.
  • Plan group instruction.
  • Carry out group instruction.

Hiring Range: Salary range $50,000 to $63,000
