Minimum Qualifications

Academic and clinical knowledge gained during the professional education curriculum. Working knowledge of principles and practice of RT techniques. Ability to administer Recreational therapy treatments, including assistive technology, leisure education, equipment and/or rule adaptations for successful participation in recreation; and to work as a team member in an interdisciplinary rehabilitation setting.

Effective verbal/written communication skills; teaching skills, knowledge of Anger Management, Socialization thru Recreation, Leisure education, Skill Development, Volunteerism, performing arts, and aquatic activities.

Preferred Qualifications:

Prefer Therapeutic Recreation Degree. Certification by NCTRC or eligible for National Certification. Previous work or affiliation in a rehabilitation environment. Clinical or general experience as a CTRS. Lifeguarding and Boating Certification. Fitness.

This has been designated a sensitive position under Va. Code § 2.2-1201.1. A fingerprint-based criminal history check will be required of the finalist candidate.

This position is designated to provide first aid, CPR and AED only as a collateral duty to routine work assignments, responding solely to injuries resulting from workplace incidents, generally at the location where the incident occurred, until emergency personnel arrive on the scene. The incumbent understands that pre-exposure hepatitis B vaccination is not being provided, but that post-exposure hepatitis B vaccination will be provided, and s/he will complete annual blood borne pathogens training in accordance with the OSHA standard.
