Educational Vision Services (EVS) is part of the NYC Department of Education within District 75 serving schools and students in the five boroughs in general and special education. It is one of the largest vision education programs in the world, supporting students who are blind and visually impaired from 3 to 21 years of age. EVS programs and services are designed to assist students to achieve educational progress in and out of classrooms utilizing an array of accommodations or adaptations. We also provide Braille instruction and access to specialized technology in order for each student to reach his or her maximum success in school. Our services include initial evaluations, Orientation & Mobility instruction, Vision Services, Mobility Paraprofessionals (as needed) and a variety of support services relating to visual impairments.

Educational Vision Services is seeking to employ a full-time orientation and mobility specialist with TVI/COMS credentials to provide direct and consultative services to students who are Blind or have low vision in the New York City Department of Education. Responsibilities include: evaluation, IEP development and implementation, travel in the community on public transportation as determined by IEP goals, collaboration with IEP team, and data collection. This is an itinerant position which will require transportation on mass transit or personal car. New York City is an exciting place to teach orientation and mobility with excellent public transportation.

Qualifications: ACVREP Certification in Orientation and Mobility and New York State Teacher Certification Blind/Visually Impaired.
