Primary Duties and Responsibilities - COMS

·         Provides individual client evaluations and instruction of all aspects of Orientation and Mobility as well as onsite and in-home vision rehabilitation services and Activities of Daily Living.

·         Maintains service records for all clients using ABVI’s Apricot system. This includes services rendered, planning, client process and general updates.

·         Maintains follow-up process for active clients receiving O&M services and past clients to ensure that they are still successful with their goals. Follow-ups are required three and six months after services have been provided.  

·         Make appropriate recommendations for adapted equipment and additional related services to the appropriate professionals. 

·         Instructs clients in the use of low-vision equipment used for travel such as monoculars and white canes.

·          Act as a liaison to community resources concerning low vision services.

·         Assists with public education with the programs and communications departments.

·         Work as a team member with other professionals, staff and volunteers.

·         Performs additional duties assigned by the Chief Programs Officer or Chief Executive Officer.

·         Must follow all company policies and procedures.

·         Collaborates with other staff members to ensure continuity of services.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities - TVI

·         Knowledge of and experience in performing assessments appropriate for school-age children with visual impairments and/or multiple disabilities

·         Knowledge of expanded core curriculum, experienced in using Braille

·         Able to conduct Functional Vision Assessments and Literacy Media Assessments without supervision

·         Strong computer skills

·         Full understanding of child development

·         Ability to work cooperatively with family and school team to enhance the skill development of the child.

·         Must be able to show knowledge and excellent skills with using Assistive Technology

·         This position reports to the Manager of Training Services; however, this person may have to perform additional duties assigned by the Chief Programs Officer or Chief Executive Officer.
