Helen Keller National Center has an exciting career opportunity in Minneapolis, MN to work directly with our Assistant Director of Field Services as an Administrative Assistant/SSP.  The Administrative Assistant/SSP is responsible for the provision of administrative assistance, interpreting and support service provider assistance which will include providing visual and environmental information and some interpreting/communication support for the Assistant Director of Field Services. 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned. Managing daily office procedures such as:

  • Provides administrative support to Assistant Director of Field Services, including answering emails, answering telephone calls, composing memos, typing, scanning, and faxing documents. 
  • Create, maintain, and manage financial record keeping, reports, files, and data, including travel reimbursements and vendor billable services. 
  • Assist in managing documents, reports, and data associated with contracts, including contract monitoring and support.
  • Provide administrative support with scheduling, zoom meetings, Blackbaud, case management system, and other administrative tasks not listed herein.
  • Provide support in developing training schedules and materials for DeafBlind Employment Specialists, Youth Services Coordinators, CA – Community Services Program staff, and other field staff not listed herein as needed.
  • Responds to all inquiries in a timely, customer-friendly manner.
  • Prepare and process reports by due dates and requested.
  • Manage data in the Case Management System. Run reports as needed and requested. 
  • Maintain the general office area, including office equipment. 
  • Provide SSP services to the Assistant Director of Field Services

REQUIRED EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE 

  • Interpreter Training Program graduate and at least 3 years of experience working with individuals who are Deaf or DeafBlind. 
  • Fluency in ASL. 
  • Strong knowledge of MSOffice including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Adobe Pro, Zoom and the internet are also required. 

PREFERRED EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

  • Knowledge of Deaf and DeafBlind culture.  

*Local travel is required
