Audio Description Assistant

Hiring immediately – Anticipated start date March 21, 2022 with mandatory online audio description training March 21 through March 25, 2022

SUMMARY

The Audio Description Assistant is responsible for aiding the Arts and Culture Director (ACD) in the promotion and administration of MindsEye’s Audio Description Program and the Arts and Culture Accessibility Cooperative.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Reporting to the ACD, this position will have the following responsibilities:

Audio Description Program

  • Keep event calendar up to date with current audio description events
  • Coordinate via Google Calendar with each describer for each event
  • Clean, charge, and distribute equipment to describer/ambassador for each event
  • Create promotional materials for each event, both digital and print
  • Promote audio description events, including mass emails, press releases, social media, and direct marketing efforts
  • Work with ACD and venue for Know-Before-You-Go document
  • Manage online headset reservations
  • Data entry of patron information and post-show survey data
  • Serve as describer/ambassador for audio description events, as needed

Arts and Culture Accessibility Cooperative (ACAC)

  • Schedule and coordinate service providers for each forum
  • Create marketing materials for each forum and promote forums via mass emails, social media, and press releases when necessary
  • Setup and collect registration information for each forum
  • Provide support during forums, virtual and in-person
  • Collect panelist biographies, photos, and slides presentations
  • Keep ACAC email list up to date
  • Coordinate with venues and caterers for in-person forums
  • Distribute post-forum information
  • Upload, update, and post forum video to social media and website
  • Data entry of new ACAC participant information and survey data

SKILLS AND APTITUDES

  • Excellent organizational and prioritization skills with attention to detail
  • Ability to organize, plan and carry out multiple activities both independently and as part of a team to meet goals and deadlines
  • Exhibit a positive, collaborative attitude, with the ability to adapt to changing org needs
  • Communicate openly, tactfully, and honestly with clients, staff, volunteers, board, donors, and other key constituents
  • Strong ethical conduct to uphold the confidentiality of client records

EXPERIENCE AND REQUIREMENTS

  • Two years of administrative, nonprofit, or other related work experience, previous work in communications, theater, or assistive technology highly desirable
  • Must have strong computer skills, proficient in Microsoft Suite, Google Suite, Zoom, or similar products, accurate data entry skills a plus
  • Must participate in initial and ongoing audio description training
  • Must be willing to travel to venues around the St. Louis Metro East area and, on occasion, Springfield, IL
  • All items above listed are considered essential functions of the job and the candidate must be able to complete all to succeed
  • Reliable transportation to and from office, venues, and meetings is required

HOURS AND SCHEDULE

  • Part-time hybrid position, in-office work required during training/probationary period
  • 20 hours/week, additional hours as required for special events, some nights and weekends expected
  • Starting salary $15.75-$17.00/hour, 40 hours of PTO time on an annual basis
