Western Pennsylvania School for Blind Children is a private chartered school in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania committed to nurturing the unique abilities of individuals with blindness and visual impairment. This multifaceted educational experience serves nearly 500 individuals ages 3 to 59 from 33 counties through on-campus school programs, A Child’s VIEW inclusive childcare, LAVI adult program, residential program and outreach services.

We are seeking an Orientation & Mobility Specialist to join our team! In this position, you will be responsible for assessing and instructing visually impaired, multi-disabled children with Orientation and Mobility skills from human guide to power mobility. 

The schedule for this position is Monday – Friday, 36 hours a week during the school year. 

Qualifications:

• Dual certification (TVI/COMS) -Certified Orientation and Mobility Specialist and Teacher of the Visually Impaired; ACVREP certification
• M.Ed. preferred, special education certification a plus
• Knowledge of educating students with multiple disabilities, including Visual impairment.
