The number of students who need vision services is increasing and Future in Sight, New Hampshire’s only statewide, non-profit vision service provider, is growing every day to meet those needs. Future In Sight offers families, schools and other education institutions access to a network of certified vision professionals. We are working to increase both our core capacity and our flexible capacity so that our students receive their vision services with fidelity.
At Future In Sight, we use evidence-based tools and closely collaborate with nearby institutions of higher education in action research to assess, evaluate, serve, and monitor our students. As a result, our students uniquely benefit. Empathy, collaboration, partnership, and appropriately high expectations for learners are our business.
O&M Instructors work one-on-one with students and make personal contacts and meet with family members, other agency professionals and community resources for the purpose of developing and implementing a student’s O&M program as it relates to safety and overall access to the individual education program. Plan with student and IEP team to implement a program of instruction for each student by evaluating and assessing needs for meeting immediate and life-long goals. You will teach independent travel, orientation, and related skills for safe mobility in the home, community, educational and vocational environments including, as appropriate, the use of low vision devices and techniques. You’ll teach problem solving and resource utilization including adaptive equipment. You’ll be able to share your knowledge and have an impact on the field when you provide consultations, public education and in-service training.
