Orientation and Mobility Specialist

The job of Teacher of Students with Visual Impairments was established for the purpose/s of providing direct and/or consultativespecial education to students with various from birth to 21 related to vision loss. Orientation and Mobility Specialists (O&M) teach those with vision loss how to travel safely, confidently and indenpendently in their environment.

Minimum Requirements:

• Orientation and Mobility Certification 
• PA Visual Impairment Certification preferred
• Bachelor's Degree in job related area
• Job related experience required
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Experience working in a school setting
• Knowledge of the ER and IEP process
• Ability to function as part of an interdisciplinary team
• Ability to communicate in a positive manner
• Strong organizational skills
• Proficient use of computer and computer programs
• Flexible and reliable
• Knowledge of local transportation system
