With over 300 employees and around 6,000 volunteers the Blind Foundation is New Zealand’s leading provider of services and support to people who are blind or have low vision. One of New Zealand’s most trusted and iconic Not for Profit organisations, we need a National Transition Facilitator to join us. You will help the organisation achieve our vision of a “life without limits” for New Zealanders who are blind or who have low vision.
As the successful candidate, you will work in partnership with the Blind and Low Vision Education Network NZ (BLENNZ), to establish a transition framework and processes for BLENNZ students who meet the transition criteria and are ready to move to adult services. You will be required to ensure the new transition service meets any external funder obligations, while working in partnership with Parents of Vision Impaired (NZ) (PVI) to reach more parents, serving as a resource for transition services, and providing the appropriate contact information for the Blind Foundation.
As well as developing a communication plan for initiating and monitoring contact with young clients, you will establish student work experience programmes, job shadowing, and career exploration activities, as well as opportunities for young clients to develop skills for daily living and participation in the community. You will plan and implement Pre-Tertiary Information workshops.
