Orientation & Mobility Trainer

Orientation & Mobility Trainer to train visually impaired or blind children K through 21 in the process of utilizing sensory information to enable them to move safely and efficiently within their environment.

  • Assess each student’s’ orientation and mobility skills to determine current level of functioning and the need for orientation and mobility services
  • Develop student’s sensory, conceptual, motor and formal orientation and mobility skills
  • Evaluate student’s progress and submit written evaluation reports
  • Identify and recommend specific sensory aides/devices
  • Maintain daily log
  • Write IEP goals and attend CSE meetings
  • Establish and maintain effective relationships with colleagues, district personnel, students and parents
  • Express oneself effectively, both orally and in writing
  • Performs related duties as required
  • COMS certification highly desired
