· Assess student assistive technology needs and provide written reports.
· Provide guidance and instruction to students in specific technology use.
· Coordinate work time between ISDB campus and statewide outreach program (seven regions).
· Research new assistive technology and formulate recommendations.
· Initiate and facilitate campus and outreach staff training, including digital training support.
· Facilitate on-going technical assistance in collaboration with campus and outreach staff.
· Partner with local, state, and other entities for resources, including workshops, equipment loan, and funding.
Skills and Expectations:
· Travel to regional offices to provide technical assistance and collaboration on specific student needs with outreach staff.
· Establish and maintain clear procedures for a referral process for assessments and consultations with students, with input from campus and outreach staff.
· Organize time efficiently, including completion of reports, follow-ups, travel, and staff meetings.
· Create lesson plans, maintain progress notes, and update contact notes.
· Use assessments to recommend devices, developmentally appropriate skills and strategies for students who are blind/low vision, or with co-occurring impairments.
· Maintain data collection, including inventories of equipment and software.
· Learn new technologies from documentation, on-line tutorials, and other professionals in the field.
· Demonstrate professional working relationships with colleagues and administrators.
· Demonstrate effective verbal and written communication skills.
· Conduct workshops, webinars, and on-line trainings for small and large groups, based on input from campus and outreach staff.
· Participate in professional development to increase knowledge and implication of assistive technology in the school setting, current teaching practices, and IESDB procedures.
· Complete other related duties as assigned.
