Certified Orientation & Mobility Specialist (COMS)
Location: New Orleans, LA
Schedule: Full-time, Monday – Friday (occasional weekends for outreach)

Lighthouse Louisiana is hiring two dynamic COMS professionals to join our mission-driven team. You’ll help individuals of all ages with vision loss gain the skills and confidence to navigate their world independently — whether crossing busy streets, riding public transit, or accessing community spaces.

What You’ll Do:

• Deliver high-quality O&M assessments and personalized training
• Support youth and adults in achieving employment and independence goals
• Collaborate with teams to integrate O&M into broader services
• Lead sensitivity training and consult on accessibility for staff and community partners
• Advocate for safer, more inclusive public spaces through outreach and education

What You Bring:

• Bachelor’s or Master’s in O&M and ACVREP certification (or in progress)
• 350+ hours of hands-on O&M instruction experience
• Strong teaching, communication, and tech skills (including GPS tools)
• Physical stamina for outdoor training and travel across southeast Louisiana
• A collaborative, client-focused spirit and passion for inclusion
