The Sherlock Center is seeking a Teacher of the Visually Impaired to provide specialized instruction and support for students ages 3 to 21 who are blind or visually impaired.
The individual will work as an itinerant vision educator conducting vision assessments; providing direct, specialized instruction of developmental and compensatory skills; and providing training and consultation to teachers, therapists and support staff on the impact of vision loss as well as educational accommodations, modifications and strategies necessary for full access to curriculum.
This position requires a bachelor’s degree in education of children who are blind or visually impaired, experience with children who are blind or visually impaired and eligibility for Rhode Island Teacher Certification as a teacher of children who are blind and visually impaired.
