OVERVIEW: Counsels and instructs blind and visually impaired individuals in orientation and mobility skills in their homes and other appropriate social and community settings by performing the following duties.

COMS ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Teaches safe efficient travel skills in all settings.

Maintains knowledge and delivers skills on the use of technology for orientation.

Collects, organizes, and analyzes information about individuals through records, tests, interviews, and professional sources, to appraise their                        interests, aptitudes, abilities, and personality characteristics, for orientation and mobility planning.

Develop and implement individualized teaching plans with and for clients.

Provide in-house and inter-agency referrals to clients as needed.

Maintains knowledge and delivers skills on the use of technology for orientation.

Certification in Orientation and Mobility from ACVREP required.

Background, credit and drug screening required.

Full time salaried position year round with benefits - The organization pays for vision insurance, life insurance, short & long term disability insurance. Health & dental insurance are subsidized. Paid time off, and paid sick leave.

Part-time position is also available.

Candidates with dual certifications are encouraged to apply.

Salary is commensurate with experience.
