Greater Detroit Agency for the Blind & Visually Impaired
Position: Certified Low Vision Therapist (CLVT) or Certified Vision Rehabilitation Therapist (CVRT)
Key Responsibilities:
- Assess the needs of clients with visual impairments and their families, developing and implementing personalized rehabilitation plans. Provide ongoing follow-up and support.
- Teach independent living skills, low vision skills, technology, and communication skills to individuals or small groups.
- Conduct sessions both at the agency and in clients' homes.
- Establish trusting relationships with clients and their families, offering support and encouragement.
- Knowledgeable about community resources specific to vision rehabilitation (e.g., supply stores, visual aids, etc.)
- Collaborate with other staff to deliver comprehensive services and ensure positive program implementation.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree required, Master’s degree preferred.
- Experience with blind, deafblind, or vision-impaired individuals preferred.
- ACVREP certification required.
- Ability to provide after-hours service as needed.
Compensation and Benefits:
- Salary based on experience.
- We provide medical coverage in addition to 11 paid holidays per year; competitive paid time off (PTO); floating holidays, personal days, and an annual winter break from Dec. 24-31.
