The Florida Center for the Blind is on the cusp of a major expansion and is looking to build a solid team with exciting opportunities for advancement.
The Florida Center for the Blind is seeking a full-time instructors for facility-based and community-based training in our eight county service area. We are immediately interviewing Orientation and Mobility Instructors, Teachers of the Visually Impaired (TVIs), preferably with O&M experience, and Special Education Teachers.
The instructors selected will be responsible for developing and implementing individualized lesson plans to assist clients with basic personal instruction to build the skills needed to allow them to live and/or work independently in their home, school or work environments.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree from an accredited university or college with an emphasis in area of visual disabilities, special education, rehabilitation counseling, or related field. Master's preferred.
ACVREP Certified or eligible for certification as a COMS – OR- Florida teaching certificate to teach the Visually Impaired (TVI) with O&M endorsement.
Florida certified or eligible for certification as a TVI – OR- Florida teaching certificate to teach Special Education.
Requirements:
Valid Florida Driver’s License and ability to travel between schools and homes for itinerant services with proof of insurance, using company-owned vehicles. Level Two background check with clean driving record. Pre-employment drug test. Eligible to work in the United States. All employees are expected to work one Saturday a month with our youth programs. Your time will be flexed to accommodate these hours.
Compensation:
Negotiable. Salary is extremely competitive and will depend on position, experience and qualifications. Sign on bonus is being offered for a limited time.
