Earle Baum Center (EBC) is a nonprofit regional community center located in Santa Rosa, CA, serving people with low vision and sight loss in Sonoma, Lake, Mendocino, and Napa counties. Located on a beautiful 17-acre rural campus, EBC provides core training (Assistive Technology, Independent Living and Orientation & Mobility) and coaching in group and 1-1 situations. We currently have an opening for a full-time Orientation and Mobility Instructor. This is a great opportunity to join an established non-profit company and dedicated team of talented professionals in western Santa Rosa. We offer competitive pay and benefits in a caring and supportive environment.

As O&M Instructor, you will perform new client assessments, prepare and manage Individual Service Plans (ISP’s), provide training both on campus at offsite location as needed, and provide training and information to family and friends, community members, volunteers and service providers. You will have the opportunity to train to participate in the Guide Dogs for the Blind Immersion (GDBI) program held at EBC. Other duties include partnering with internal providers to ensure client needs are met and developing funding requests.

The qualified candidate will be AVCREP COMS certified or have a Mobility Certification (NOMC) from the National Blindness Professional Certification Board (NBPCB), or be an intern eligible to apply for their  O&M credential. You must have the ability to assess and teach to different skills levels, provide training on varied mobility devices including monocular, tints, GPS Apps, audible pedestrian signals and tactile maps, and canes.

Soft skill requirements include strong communication, interpersonal, computer, time management, organization, documentation and familiarity with government/private agency reporting requirements and protocols.
