1. Facilitate group discussion and/or demonstration of computer applications. Provide demonstration of all equipment in the technology training center. Teach keyboarding and computer skills to participants.
2. Develop a computer curriculum and lesson plan for each participant based on needs.
3. Prepare individual instructional plans, progress reports, and final evaluations.
4. Evaluate and recommend appropriate assistive technology for individuals.
5. Provide an assessment of the participant’s needs to determine recommendations. Provide home and/or job site analysis and training on assistive technology needed for participant’s employment.
6. Troubleshoot when related to assistive technology.
7. Prepare Braille documents using Braille translator program and Braille embosser.
8. Develop and maintain a resource file that includes, but is not limited to, brochures, a price list of various technology equipment and vendor information.
9. Attend meetings with the Division of Blind Services.
10. Provide computer setup and IT troubleshooting.
11. Responsible for IT program development
12. Instruct staff in use of computer software programs.
13. Supervise Technology Specialists. Assign and check work. Provide direction to staff and assist in the investigation and resolution of problems. Evaluate performance and provide counseling and coaching to employees. Maintain harmonious employee-employer relations. Approve staff’s time entries and PTO.
14. Perform any range of departmental assignments or special projects as requested.

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:
1. Bachelor’s degree in Rehabilitation Counseling or computer field; years of experience can be substituted for a degree. Master’s degree preferred.
2. Five years of experience with Microsoft Office Suite and operating systems.
3. DOE/DBS endorsement in screen readers and magnification to be obtained within one year of hire.
4. Five years’ experience with assistive technology for persons with visual impairments.
5. Well-developed organizational and communication skills.
6. Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously; be detail-oriented and possess time-management skills.
7. Must have a valid Florida driver’s license and valid insurance and the ability to be insured under the company’s vehicle insurance policy or reliable transportation for travel.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
1. Write/converse in person or by telephone.
2. Frequent travel to participant’s home, referral agencies, meetings, conferences
