ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
1. Instruct individuals and groups in all areas of Vision Rehabilitation: Communication Skills, Personal Management, Home Management, Activities of Daily Living, Leisure and Recreation, Psychosocial Aspects of Blindness and Vision Loss, Medical Management, Basic Orientation and Mobility Skills.
2. Evaluate participants to establish an individualized instruction plan.
3. Prepare individual instruction plans, progress reports, and final evaluations.
4. Attend meetings with the Division of Blind Services.
5. Perform any range of departmental administrative assignments or special projects as requested.
OTHER DUTIES MAY INCLUDE BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO:
1. Demonstrate by words and actions a commitment to the Lighthouse mission by advocating for and assisting persons with visual impairments to develop their capabilities to the fullest and to utilize them in the pursuits of life, which are the right and privilege of all.
2. Perform or assist with any duties or operations, as required to maintain workflow and to meet schedules and quality requirements.
3. Maintain a safe work area and comply with safety procedures and equipment operating rules, keeping work area clean and orderly.
4. Participate in various meetings and task force groups to integrate activities, communicate issues, obtain approvals, resolve problems, and maintain a specified level of knowledge of new developments, requirements, and policies.

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:
1. Bachelor or Master’s degree in Rehabilitation Teaching for the Visually Impaired
2. Certification in Rehabilitation Teaching by the Academy for Certification of Vision Rehabilitation and Education Professionals or be eligible for certification
3. Over 1 and up to 3 years of experience.
4. Well-developed organizational and communication skills.
5. Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously; be detail-oriented and possess time-management skills.
6. Must have a valid Florida driver’s license, valid insurance and the ability

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
1. Frequent travel to participant’s home, referral agencies, meetings, conferences, etc.
2. Writing and conversing in person as well as by telephone
3. Generally normal sitting, standing and walking
