This two day hands-on seminar is designed specifically for Orientation and Mobility Specialists.Upon completion of this seminar, participants will be able to: Educate clients who express an interest in working with a guide dog Introduce the guide dog lifestyle and in particular, the GDB program to their clients Identify skills needed to successfully work with a guide dog Assist in preparing potential guide dog users in the transition from a cane to a guide dog by learning basic Juno work to allow for practical guidework Assist potential applicants in qualifying for the GDB program Assess an applicant s travel skills and report to GDB on these and other qualification requirements (GDB O&M report)Provide advanced orientation assistance to active graduates in the field |
