AbstractThe APH Monarch is a laptop style, multiline braille and dynamic tactile graphics device (10 lines 32 cells) designed to bring braille text and tactile diagrams together on the same surface dramatically reducing time to fingertips by connecting to digital textbooks and the Tactile Graphics Image Library (TGIL). In blind rehab settings, Monarch enables faster braille literacy, deeper tactile discrimination, and efficient concept teaching with ready made graphics from TGIL, on the fly creation via Wing It and built in educational apps that support therapeutic recreation and gamification (e.g., Chess, Wordstock, and Cyberchase: Echo Explorers). This session demonstrates practical workflows mapped to SBRC use cases, highlights accessibility and safety considerations, and outlines measurable documentation strategies so therapists can integrate Monarch into care plans and capture outcomes.References: Monarch Product Page; Meet Monarch two major Monarch features: Terminal Mode & Wing It; Monarch Update 1.4 (eBraille, Cloud) |
