Description of CE Program/Activity
Collaborative-CE is a quarterly virtual small-group learning series for professionals in low vision and vision rehabilitation. Each interactive session brings diverse perspectives together to explore real practice challenges, share workable solutions, strengthen interdisciplinary partnerships, and move from conversation to action. This session covers Central Field Loss Care Across Disciplines: Examining Variability and Exploring a Draft Framework. The presentation and impact of central field loss are nuanced, and care for central field loss varies widely across disciplines and settings. A flexible, interdisciplinary clinical pathway is needed that reflects the multiple decision points involved in providing individualized care informed by diagnostics, functional impact, patient goals, visual demands of desired tasks, and psychosocial factors. In this small discussion group, we will examine current practices for addressing central field loss and explore and provide feedback on a draft framework developed through a series of interdisciplinary focus groups. Objective Statement: Participants will collaboratively contribute to the development of a clinical pathway framework that synthesizes research findings and clinical insights to support individualized, patient-centered decision-making for central field loss. Learning Objectives: 1. Identify clinical and contextual factors, including diagnostics, functional impact, patient goals, visual task demands, and psychosocial considerations, that inform individualized care for people with central field loss. 2. Examine common decision points in clinical management of central field loss and discuss how these decision points influence selection and sequencing of intervention approaches. 3. Collaboratively contribute to the development of a clinical pathway framework that synthesizes research findings and clinical insights to support individualized, patient-centered decision-making for central field loss.
