Description of CE Program/Activity
10/19/26The intervener model is an emerging approach to supporting individuals who are DeafBlind, and teams may be interested in understanding the unique benefits interveners can provide. While the role of an intervener is distinct, all members of a team can engage in appropriate support by applying the eleven Principles of Intervention to their work. This presentation will introduce the intervener model, describe the role and training of interveners, and explore how interveners contribute to effective team-based support. Participants will gain practical tools for determining when an intervener may be appropriate for a child/student who is DeafBlind. The presentation will also provide an overview of current and pending legislation related to interveners.10/20/26This presentation will examine how the role of the intervener complements the roles of teachers, consultants, therapists, and other members of the educational team. Participants will explore how interveners support other members of the team by addressing the four factors of deafblindness throughout the student s day. Through practical examples, participants will examine ways interveners collaborate with team members to promote consistency, shared problem-solving, and meaningful participation for students who are DeafBlind. Participants will also gain strategies for working with their teams to identify students who may benefit from intervener support.
