This workshop, focused on assistive technology instruction, is designed to provide a structured framework to enhance services to older clients with vision loss. The 7 sessions will provide participants with practical assessment, instructional, and training strategies that can be applied when evaluating technology needs, developing training plans, selecting appropriate accessibility approaches, and supporting ongoing consumer success. Emphasis will be placed on balancing technology capabilities with consumer goals, functional abilities, cognitive load, technology experience, support systems, and anticipated future needs.Author Bio: Teressa Fax is the Lead Curriculum Developer of JCATS Training. She holds a Master of Education and is a Certified Assistive Technology Instructional Specialist (CATIS). She has worked in technology since 1997, including more than 13 years in software development, and has more than seven years of experience providing assistive technology services to adults and older adults with vision loss. |
