Description of CE Program/Activity
This two day training will examine the powerful collaboration needed to develop individualized Augmentative Alternative Communication (AAC) systems for learners with Cerebral / Cortical Visual Impairment (CVI), the leading cause of visual impairment in children in the USA. CVI is growing in its prevalence, especially in the demographic of learners who need AAC in order to communicate. Each learner is unique, but there are guiding principles to support individualization in order to amplify each learner's voice. Sessions will include a combination of lectures that review the most recent peer reviewed research, examine case studies, and small group work, as well as open forum question and answer sessions to end each day.
