Too often, statistics highlighting the social and economic challenges faced by Indigenous people and communities in Canada are presented in isolation. In this session, Kelly Brownbill invites participants to explore these realities through a lens of cause and effect.Beginning prior to contact and moving into modern society, the training provides an introduction to Indigenous culture by examining what existed before contact, what was brought by settlers, and how these very different world views collided during the formation of Canada.Participants will leave with:- A stronger understanding of Indigenous culture- Increased awareness of the challenges faced by Indigenous people and communities- An introduction to relationship building as a step toward addressing the history of assimilation and ongoing inequities |
