Description of CE Program/Activity
 This session, building on the first, will allow participants to engage more deeply with the challenges facing the LGBTQIA+ community, including understanding the increased risks for substance misuse, suicide and suicidal ideation, and other mental health challenges. Access to LGBTQIA+ affirming care will be addressed, and ways to foster resilience in the face of discrimination will leave practitioners with a practical, hopeful path forward in their work with LGBTQIA+ youth.Following this training the participants will: Understand the unique challenges, including access needs, that LGBTQIA+ youth face that increase the risk of mental health concerns. Learn practical strategies for suicide screening and open discussion with youth, as well as up-to-date data on the risk of suicide among LBGTQIA+ youth. The importance of building resilience factors, and ways that providers can support the growth of that resilience.
