This professional learning session is designed for school-based related services providers to deepen their understanding of assistive technology (AT) systems, resources, and processes within Bucks IU. Participants will be introduced to the Bucks IU Assistive Technology Team and explore available resources, including the AT Google Drive, templates for Proloquo2Go and TouchChat users, and key tools that support clinical and educational decision-making. The course provides an overview of the role of related services team members within the Bucks IU Assistive Technology Referral Process, including a review of updated standard operating procedures (SOPs), decision-making frameworks, and AT Skills Self-Assessment results. Participants will identify tools for determining when an AT referral is warranted and examine supports available to IEP teams completing SETT processes outside of formal referrals. Emphasis will be placed on effectively discussing assistive technology during IEP meetings and collaborating with multidisciplinary teams. Additionally, the session will focus on the integration of assistive technology within the IEP. Participants will learn strategies for engaging in meaningful conversations about AT, as well as best practices for documenting AT use within the IEP to ensure compliance and support student access to the curriculum. By the end of this course, participants will be better equipped to navigate Bucks IU AT processes, contribute to informed decision-making within IEP teams, and implement assistive technology supports that enhance student outcomes. |
