This course is designed for vocational rehabilitation counselors and other service providers who support people with visual impairments. Using findings from a 5-year research project, it translates national data into practical insights about employment. Participants will learn how key employment statistics are defined, why the 70% unemployment claim is incorrect, and what recent national trends show. Topics include full-time and part-time work, continuity of employment, disability benefits, self-employment, earnings, college degree majors, underemployment, employment patterns, job retention, and retirement. The course may also be useful for researchers and college students who want a research-grounded overview of national employment trends. |
