Description of CE Program/Activity
What if writing meaningful, student-centered technology goals felt clear, doable, and aligned with what students actually need? Using the book Access Technology for Blind and Low Vision Accessibility as its foundation, this course guides educators in partnering with students to evaluate their access needs and actively drive the development of their own technology goals. Through practical examples and strategies, the course supports educators in writing clear technology goals with meaningful objectives to create technology-rich IEPs that promote independence, ensure flexibility as tools evolve, and strengthen access to learning across educational settings. Objectives Use the Needs Assessment form to identify priorities for AT instruction. Collaborate with students during the IEP process to gather input, clarify needs, and support shared decision-making. Write an IEP goal that incorporates all five components of a meaningful technology goal. Develop objectives using the task analysis approach. Describe assistive technology in the IEP by focusing on the functional device features that support the student s needs.
