Description of CE Program/Activity
Big feelings can interfere with learning when students do not understand what frustration is, where it comes from, or how it affects the brain and body. This course invites educators to observe a virtual classroom as a school counselor guides young learners through a lesson that builds self-awareness through body- and brain-based strategies. As part of a collaborative approach to supporting student needs, participants will learn breathing techniques, positive self-talk, and simple planning tools that help students manage frustration and return to learning. Objectives Describe early body, sensory, and thought-based clues that signal rising frustration. Explain how rising frustration can affect cognitive processing. Model breathing strategies and positive self-talk to support emotional regulation. Create a personalized frustration plan that integrates body awareness, breathing, self-talk, and problem-solving.
