Practitioners serving individuals who are blind or visually impaired must ensure that they are equipped with the appropriate attitude, motivation, and skill set to provide effective training strategies that address the unique needs of individuals from cultural and linguistically diverse backgrounds. Participants in this session will learn about the unique risk factors people with disabilities in a medical center face as it pertains to Intimate Partner Violence and Domestic Violence (IPV/DV). Providers will learn to recognize the signs that IPV/DV may be occurring in the medical setting as well as how to respond when IPV/DV is disclosed/suspected. Participants will also learn how to use IPV/DV risk assessment for people with disabilities. |
