Description of CE Program/Activity
 The purpose of this presentation is to provide an overview of the types of hearing loss and how veterans are affected. We will review hearing aids and assistive devices, along with their limitations, as well as good communication strategies for individuals with hearing loss. Goals:1.Understand hearing loss and speech understanding2.Understand the difference in the types of hearing aids and features that are offered 3.Understand assistive devices that can be utilized with hearing aids4.Understand good communication strategies that can be used when conversing with veterans with hearing loss Objectives:1.Increase awareness regarding the hearing loss and speech understanding and how that plays into communication with veterans.2.Compare hearing aid styles and how they may/may not be accessible for veterans with hearing loss and visual impairment. 3.Provide hands-on guidance when using assistive technology along with hearing aids. 4.Increase awareness of good communication strategies for veterans with hearing loss. 5.Encourage participants to utilize this information when working with veterans with hearing loss
