Description of CE Program/Activity
Summary: This presentation will provide the most recent updates on what is and is not required at new and existing traffic signals with crosswalks related to including APS to improve accessibility. We will explore what PROWAG and the MUTCD has to say about this, what various agencies are doing based upon it, how the new technology in APS increases benefits, safety, and provides supplemental information, and how you can assist your clients in applying for APS installations with state and local transportation departments. Three Objectives:Have clear understanding of state and local transportation departments requirements for adding APS to intersections.Know how to assist your clients in requesting APS at signalized intersection crosswalks.Know how APS operate; additional features you can request and agency to program for your client; how to recognize if an APS is working correctly.
