Vocational Rehabilitation (VR) services support people with disabilities and barriers toemployment across the U.S. For individuals with vision loss, these services are essential;however, many providers lack the necessary training or confidence in serving them. This leadsto limited options, bias, and lowered expectations, hindering access to employment andaccommodations. This presentation will examine the VR system's structure and diversity, andoffer strategies for vision loss professionals to collaborate with service providers, aiming topromote inclusion, competence, and equal employment opportunities.The presentation will allow participants to: Learn the key parts of the Vocational Rehabilitation system and the roles of employment serviceproviders. Recognize common barriers, misconceptions, and biases that impact job seekers with vision loss andfind strategies to reduce them.
