Session 4 will round out the assessment portion of the series with a focus on early language development and writing. Assessment strategies will be shared for obtaining information about students early development of vocabulary, symbolic language, morphology, and syntax. Writing assessment tools, including the Developmental Writing Scale (DWS) and the Text Type Diversity Measure, will be shared. Case studies will be used to demonstrate the analysis and application of these measures for planning instruction. Educators will leave with assessment strategies that directly inform writing instruction for beginning learners. |
