Amy Scepaniak, the South Dakota DeafBlind Project director, will present about cortical visual impairment (CVI) and the DeafBlind learner. Approximately 30% of DeafBlind students in Minnesota have CVI as identified on the December 2024 federal child count that you and other BVI and DHH teachers provided information about. For this reason, we invited Amy to present to help more people understand the impact of CVI on children with deafblindness.Brandy Sebera, who wears several different hats including adjunct professor at the University of South Dakota, overseeing and teaching some of the courses in the Concentration in Deafblindness series, will present about Communication Portfolios for DeafBlind Children in the afternoon. Brandy will also include a brief overview of communication and the different levels at which DeafBlind students might be functioning. |
