Description of CE Program/Activity
 The 2011 Minnesota State TBVI & COMS Conference Looking through the Spectrum: Eye Conditions & Autism Spectrum Disorder will focus on assessment, teaching strategies and techniques for instructing students who are blind and visually impaired as well as autistic. The second day of the conference will focus on eye conditions, medical advances and terminology. The presenters are as follows:

Dr. Inge De Becker
Dr. De Becker is an assistant professor in pediatric ophthalmology and adult strabismus at the University of Minnesota. She treats children with general eye problems, including strabismus and amblyopia, and adults with double vision and with ocular misalignment. She does surgery for strabismus, double vision, and nystagmus. She screens for retinopathy of prematurity and provides laser treatment for infants severely affected by this disease. Additionally, Dr. De Becker has an interest in children with multidisciplinary problems, including autism, chromosomal abnormalities, congenital, and hereditary eye problems.

Judy Klein-Pells
Judy has been a special education teacher for 29 years in the Anoka-Hennepin School district. She holds certification in Elementary Education, ECSE, DCD and has taken several courses in the VI program. She has been a consultant in the area of autism for about 10 years and has worked with a range of students with autism throughout her years in the district.

Mary Mitchell-Lundeen
Mary has worked in the public schools as a teacher, Behavior Analyst and Licensed Psychologist for the past 33 years. She was the first Consultant in Autism Spectrum Disorders at the Minnesota Department of Education. While at the state department, Mary had the opportunity to set up the state network for Autism Specialists and establish criteria for Autism Spectrum Disorders. Mary also has a licensure in the area of Blind/Visually Impaired.
