Students who read braille can be successful in math and have fun along the way! Truly, there s no better motivation than a little friendly competition for students in 6th grade and above! During the session, participants will have the opportunity to experience some of the rounds mathletes will compete in, learn how they can access the practice materials at no cost, and register their student/child. The presenters will share common braille and math computation errors and strategies/resources that can be used to increase the student s math skills.Objectives: Participants will:1.List three reasons it is beneficial for their students to participate in the Mathlete Competition.2.Describe the skills addressed during the four rounds of mathlete competition.3.Identify five common braille and math computation errors that braille readers often make.4.List three resources to use when increasing students math skills. |
