Description of CE Program/Activity
 This 90 minute presentation/discussion will include basic information on our aging population as well as the history and culture of our Baby Boomer generation. A review of relevant eye conditions and the functional implications of each will be discussed, and the role that denial and acceptance can have on your training program will be noted. Specific questions that an orientation and mobility specialist should ask during the evaluation will be offered along with considerations for observation.Other topics will include the importance of the eye exam and/or the functional vision evaluation; what might constitute an effective training program; information about canes, tips, referrals, review of center-based training/itinerant services and VA programs; specific prosthetic devices to consider and finally, the importance of glare and lighting relative to mobility and the presenter s experiences and recommendations relative to each.-The listener will better understand the projected increase of the senior population and its implications for orientation and mobility specialists-The listener will better understand the specific eye conditions relevant to this population and their functional implications-The listener will learn about relevant considerations relative to evaluation and training with respect to orientation and mobility, with specific consideration relative to glare and lighting.Registered OMSA Members will automatically be emailed a link to the CEU form. 1.5 CEUs will be provided exclusively for Current OMSA members.The CEs are awarded by ACVREP and approved by ACVREP and NBPCB
