 Seeing Science Differently: Navigating Education and Scientific Research with a Visual Impairment - This presentation will explore the journey of navigating life with a visual impairment (Achromatopsia), focusing on early educational experiences and the transition into scientific research. By highlighting both challenges and triumphs, it will shed light on the importance of accessibility in STEM education and vocational opportunities. The story will demonstrate how inclusive practices can empower individuals with disabilities to thrive in science and technology fields. The presentation will conclude with an overview of a current research project, illustrating how diverse perspectives can drive innovation and enrich the scientific community. Instruction Level: Intermediate Prerequisites: None. Learning Objectives: 1. Describe how proactive parental involvement is crucial in securing accurate diagnoses and early interventions for children with visual impairments, ultimately shaping their educational and developmental journeys. 2.
