Description of CE Program/Activity
All-Staff Meeting will be held on Monday, September 16, 2024. Networking with your colleagues will take place from 9 a.m. to 9:45 a.m. We will then begin getting seating. The meeting will begin shortly after. The morning will be filled with team events, updates from the executive team, an opportunity to meet new staff members, and an announcement of our Performance Recognition Award winners. After lunch, we will showcase "Dream," the film sharing the story of an autistic man s transformative encounter with a woman who is blind. Her influence opens his world to new possibilities, crafting a narrative that celebrates diversity and the essence of human connection. Notably, Dream stars non-actors with disabilities and features scenes shot at The Carroll Center for the Blind, highlighting activities like fencing and sailing designed for people who are blind or have vision loss. You will also have the opportunity to meet some of the people featured in the film, who are members of the blind community, and ask them questions. We will end our day just before 3:00 p.m. The objective of this day is to provide: Overview of updates the for the agency and strategic plan Identify areas of improvement and success to serve the legally blind population Review history and laws related to the legally blind population Review inspiring stories related to our mission, All residents of the Commonwealth who are legally blind are empowered to live a fulfilling and independent life, with opportunities to work and thrive.
