Practitioners serving individuals who are blind or visually impaired must ensure that they are equipped with the appropriate attitude, motivation, and skill set to provide effective training strategies that address the unique needs of individuals from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds. In this presentation, providers will learn how to use the OrCam portable optical character recognition device for accessing print, money identification, accessing time, and recognizing faces. Participants will be able to who is a good candidate for this adaptive device and learn strategies for assessing and teaching the device to Veterans who are visually impaired.
