This course outlines how to select low vision devices, technology, and compensatory techniques to improve functional performance and patient outcomes. We will review low vision cases from device selection to discharge and discuss what low vision interventions achieved or failed to achieve patient goals. We will review the importance of prioritizing functional goals prior to device selection. Cases will include many treatment alternatives which include video magnification, optical magnification, prisms, scanning techniques, text to speech devices, apps, iPads, non-optical devices, and compensatory techniques and environmental modifications. |
